What We Collect

When you use KenChef without signing in, we do not collect any personal information. We use your IP address (hashed and not stored in readable form) solely for rate limiting purposes.

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. This information is used to:

  • Display your name and photo in the app
  • Save your recipes and preferences to your account
  • Associate your settings across devices

How We Store Data

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in Google Cloud. This includes:

  • Saved recipes and cooking preferences
  • App settings (language, units, dietary restrictions, image style)
  • Shared recipe data (if you choose to share)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

Cookies & Local Storage

KenChef uses browser local storage to remember your preferences (language, settings) even when not signed in. This data stays on your device.

If Google Analytics is enabled, it uses cookies to collect anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, features used, session duration). No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics.

AI-Generated Content

Recipes are generated by Google Gemini AI. Your recipe queries are sent to Google's API for processing and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not store your queries beyond the current session.

Your Rights

You can delete your saved recipes at any time from My Cookbook. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.
